Changeable Chewables Interview

 

Today I interviewed Christina Hanna from Changeable Chewables






A little about Christina and her company
She is a stay at home mom (and the inventor of  Changeable Chewables) from St.Louis Missouri.  Changeable Chewables is a teething accessory that is interchangeable and convertible. This converts from a large necklace to a smaller necklace and small bracelet at the same time by easily pulling apart breakaway clasp and reconnecting the ends to eachother. This also allows you to change the style of your necklace with a strand of beads that are diffrent in color or shape. Little ones can have endless fun trading pieces with their friends. Necklace also comes with an attachment to attach to strollers, car seats, pacifiers, and much more. This teething necklace has two breakaway clasp to to aid in safety. This teething necklace is BPA free and non-toxic and safe for babies and children to chew on. Changeable Chewables are dishwasher safe.


  


How did the idea for Changeable chewables come about?
 

The idea came to me a few months after I saw a teething necklace in a baby store that I thought looked unsafe and was nothing I would wear. I decided to draw a few sketches of some I thought would be stylish and functional in more than one way.

How did you get started in this business?

I got started with this business by designing my product for myself and my children. I also wanted to make a accessory that could help children with developmental delays and children with autism that chew on thing such as clothing and other items. This can  help provide children with a great sensory experience that they require. Changeable Chewables provides children with a great accessory to chew on that is easily accessible to them and stylish at the same time. Dishwasher safe for easy cleaning!

 

How did you get the background and skills necessary to run this type of business?
 

I went to National Academy Beauty art in 2009 and received my cosmetology license. In 2011 I went to Phoenix University and received my Associates Degree in business.  I had a little experience from my schooling but mainly my uncle have me some advice and basically gave me a crash course in writing a patent. It was all a learning process as I went through it. 

                                                                        
How long have you been in business? 

I have been in business since March of 2014. I came up with the idea in December of 2013 and received patent pending status in January 2014.

 

What do you plan to do with your business after your kickstarter campaign ends? In the next year? In the next five years?

 

When my kickstarter campaign ends I plan on designing new products and different designs and an array of colors of my current Changeable Chewables.

In the next year I see my Changeable Chewables in stores like Babies R Us.

In the next 5 years I see them being in other stores around the world. soon I will have many products to offer with tons of color choices and designs.
 

What are the biggest challenges  for running this business?
The biggest challenge for me when running my business is getting my product out there to be noticed. It is spreading and making its way around now. KSDK News Channel 5 interviews me and are airing it soon. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch is also writing an article on me. These two thing will really help get me product out there. 

 

Any advice for anyone wanting to start a business? 
 

My advice to anyone who wants to start a business is to be persistent! You will hear a lot of people say no before you hear a yes but don't give up.

Simply Gorgeous Cream Eye shadow

               The product I will be reviewing today is a cream eye shadow from a makeup company called simply gorgeous. I have never really loved cream eye shadows much but this one is very impressive. I have received the shade ‘Cocoa Bronze’ to review. The color is very pigmented, however, at first glance, the product looks like kind of a berry bronze color instead of a true bronze like it applies. The formula is very thick and is best when applied with clean fingers instead of a brush.  Check it out here

This product is easy to apply and lasts throughout the entire day and it didn’t crease like other cream eye shadows I have tried. The first day I used this product I used it alone, the second day I used it as a sticky base for a brown eye shadow and it worked amazingly. The one thing I wasn’t too fond of with this product is that it appears to have an oil base which makes it harder to apply liquid eyeliner with. Other than that, I have had no problems with this product and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to try a waterproof makeup look for the beach/day to the pool, or for everyday use!

Ovenart Nonstick Muffin pan

When I was asked to review the ovenart nonstick  muffin pan I was really exited because we don't currently have any pans or backing trays in our house (well we do but they are stuck in the drawer underneath the oven and it will NOT open)   

it is made of a very floppy silicone (The floppier the better, it is made of silicone that is free of cheaper, plastic filler material -- sturdiness in a silicone pan almost always comes from the addition of plastic fibres, which over time, can produce odours and will compromise nonstick performance. )

 

Tips and tricks-

 - Place the bakeware on a cookie sheet before filling the cups for easy oven transfer. For thick batters like corn bread, you may not need the help of a cookie sheet.
- Lightly grease the cups of the muffin pan using oil, butter, or baking spray. (I didn't and they turned out fine)
- Place the cookie sheet on the middle oven rack and bake according to the recipe. Check for doneness using a toothpick.
- The silicone cools quickly and will be cool to touch within a couple of minutes of removing from the oven.
- Pop out your baked goods with your fingers by pushing up from the bottom of the cups.

I don't have a picture of the muffins afterwards but they slid out of the pan easily
